This is an inspirational, past-paced hymn about the restoration. The verses in the hymn itself are quite short, and go by quickly due to the tempo. The melodic content reminds me a lot of a round, so I decided to incorporate some counterpoint into this arrangement.

The arrangement begins with the piano playing an entire verse as an introduction. Then the choir sings verse one as it appears in the hymn book. Verse two begins with the tenors and basses singing the melody in unison and the sopranos and altos join in one measure later in a canonic treatment. In verse three we get into some more interesting counterpoint. The sopranos take the melody. The basses also have the melody and begin at the same time, but in metric augmentation. One measure later the tenors join in singing a counterpoint to the melody, and in the next measure the altos begin singing the augmented melody. After some melodic twists and turns, all parts somehow end up finishing the verse together.

This one is fun to sing!
